Francisco Mantecón Bodegas Terras Gauda

Vigo, España

Sponsored by Terras Gauda Wineries and the Vigo Port Authority, the Inter- national Biennial Poster Design Terras Gauda Competition is intended to keep increasing the effort started by Francisco Mantecón, the artist whose talent and skills illuminated everything related to the image of Bodegas Ter- ras Gauda since the company was first set up.
Now Terras Gauda Winery, based next to the ocean coast of Spain, sells 1,5 million of wine bottles over 45 countries.
For the 14th edition of the international competition, my conceptual po- ster recalls the roots of Spanish region, named Galicia, where Terras Gauda’s vineyards are growing and white wine produced.
Through chromatic feelings and symbols, the concept evokes the sea ships, the white wine and the Galician lands.
A blue boat’s wheel is made of a circle of white wine bottles, key product of the winery, with its center containing the ancient Celtic symbol of Trinacria. The chromatic choices are linked to visual, sound and smell perceptions of Terras Gauda lands: in the background an ochre yellow as the beach sand, in the center the blue wheel as the Atlantic ocean, with the white color filling the bottles as the main wine typology produced.
